I have a contact lens allowance with my
EyeMed/ECPA plan. Why can’t I use this allowance toward the
purchase of replacement contact lenses?
All EyeMed and ECPA programs are founded on a
key principle – only the best in quality of care for our members.
You should always purchase your initial pair of contact lenses
from your eye care provider so he/she can verify the proper fitting
of the lens and provide any required follow-up care. If you have
a contact lens allowance with your EyeMed or ECPA vision plan,
this allowance may be applied toward the purchase of your initial
contact lenses from your provider – as well as fit and follow-up
care fees. Your allowance is not applicable to the Replacement
Contact Lens By Mail Service. If or when you need your
initial lenses replaced, and your prescription is still valid,
you will now have the option to purchase the lenses from your original
eye care provider, or use the Replacement Contact Lens by Mail
Service. However, these expenses are not reimbursable by your vision
care plan.
Can my eye care professional decline my
request for replacement contact lenses?
There are some circumstances when your eye care
provider may decline or alter your contact lens order request.
For example:
- If your contact lens prescription is expired, the provider
will decline your request for lenses.
- If you are requesting a type or brand of lens that was not
originally prescribed for you, the provider will decline to verify
the prescription.
- If you are requesting an excessive amount of lenses that will
likely last you an extended period of time past the prescription
expiration date, the provider may alter the order and reduce
the quantity requested.
- Some states do not require the provider to release a patient’s
prescription to a third party, even with the patient’s permission.
If a provider in one of these states does not wish to participate
in the program, it is possible that he/she may decline the order.
In all of the above circumstances, you
will be notified via email of the status of your order. If
the provider approved your prescription but altered the quantity,
you will have the option to proceed or cancel the order.
Is there a toll-free number I can call
in lieu of ordering via the Internet?
Yes, you may call 1-800-508-1399 to request your
lenses, however, there will be a $2.95 administration fee for this
service. There is no administration fee if lenses are ordered via
the Internet.
What is typical delivery time for my lenses
once the order is approved from my vision care provider?
Your lenses will ship via UPS Standard delivery,
and should arrive approximately within 2-4 days. Faster shipping
options are available as well.
Can I use the Replacement Service if my
initial order was from an out-of-network provider?
Yes, however you will need to manually enter
in your provider’s name and address information so your prescription
may be obtained.
I have an EyeMed Vision Care or ECPA discount
plan (ECPA Access Plan, EyeMed Primary Plan, or EyeMed Primary-Plus
Plan), may I still use the Replacement Contact Lens By Mail
Service? Is my contact lens discount applicable to the Replacement
Service?
The Replacement Contact Lens By Mail Service
is available to all ECPA and EyeMed Vision Care members, regardless
of plan type. If your plan provides for a discount for conventional
or disposable contact lenses, the discount is not applicable
toward the Replacement Contact Lens Service, and you should still
order your initial pair of contact lenses through your eye care
provider. However, for your replacement lenses, you will
likely find the pricing on eyemedcontacts.com is very competitive,
and purchasing them is easy and convenient.
I just joined the EyeMed/ECPA plan already
have a valid contact lens prescription, and therefore do not
need another exam. May I use my out-of-network contact lens
allowance to purchase replacement lenses and get reimbursed?
Yes, in this situation, you may apply your out-of-network
allowance to purchases from the site. Simply follow the standard
out-of-network process to receive reimbursement up to the out-of-network
allowance for your plan.
